Stella Polyviou was born in Nicosia in 1957. She graduated from University College London in 1977.
She has been working with the firm since 1982 and her extensive legal experience and knowledge have contributed to the rapid and substantial development of the litigation department of the firm, which is headed by her. Under her close supervision and guidance the litigation department handles a great number of cases before all courts in Cyprus.
She is considered as one of the leading litigators of Cyprus. Her success record has placed her among the top litigators of the island and is considered by her peers as being an authority in a wide spectrum of civil litigation topics. In fact, numerous of the legal cases she has handled have become important judicial precedents in Cyprus.
Stella has extensive experience in disputes concerning cross-border litigation, including but not limited to shareholders’ disputes in Cypriot holding companies, minority shareholder protection and registration and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.
Recently, she handled a series of complex cases concerning receivers appointed under the terms of floating charges, and she has successfully managed to discharge interim prohibitory orders against her clients in a series of shareholder disputes. Furthermore, Stella handles complex cases involving banking and insurance law.
Stella is also a member of the board of directors of one of the largest insurance companies in Cyprus, a position she has held for a number of years.
