Competition Law

One of the main areas of experience of Chryssafinis & Polyviou LLC is Competition Law. It has appeared on numerous occasions before the Commission for the Protection of Competition which is the administrative organ responsible for the enforcement of the Law for the Protection of Competition 2008. Furthermore, the Firm has represented parties to numerous transactions in notifications to the Commission (in accordance with the Law for the Control of Concentrations between Enterprises for the Purposes of Protection of Effective Competition).

Chryssafinis & Polyviou has organized annual conferences on Competition Law, with the ultimate aim of creating a ‘competition law culture’ in Cypriot business. Last year’s conference included notable speaker Richard Whish (Professor at King’s College London), Susan Bright (Partner of Competition Law, Lovells) and Kris Dekeyser (European Commission).

“Chryssafinis & Polyviou ‘comes highly recommended for complicated competition issues and also for new entrants into the Cyprus market’. The firm regularly advises major multinationals in the oil sector on price-fixing matters, and recently represented a national bank in a CPC investigation against the island’s main commercial banks”.
